Art From the Heart
Posted on June 8th, 2010 in News Notes
The Parker Artist Guild recently conducted a fundraiser for The Ronald McDonald House as part of the 2010 Spring Art Show in Downtown Parker. According to David Bahm of the Parker Artists Guild, The Spring Art Show Committee was able to purchase over $800 worth of art supplies for The Ronald McDonald House from the sale of art donated to the silent auction.
David added, “We purchased enough art supplies to fill 30 totes for younger children, and items included sketch pads, paints, colored pencils, markers, mini canvases, paint by numbers, sculpting clay, and much, much more.” Fifteen art kits with a little more complexity and smaller pieces were purchased for teenage patients and guests. All items were delivered to The Ronald McDonald House by the SAS Committee on June 2, 2010.
“Special thanks to Laura Eicher, my SAS co-chair,” said David, “and Susan Merriman who purchased most of the products, and thanks to Paul Valdez.” Laura and Susan were responsible for assembling the kits. Thanks again to all artists who donated their work to be bid on, and thanks to all of the volunteers who helped out during the auction!
We recently recieved a message from the Asst. Manager of the RMH……
Dear Friends @ Parker Artists Guild,
The Ronald McDonald House and our families want to thank you for your recent donation of art supplies. The tote bags were such a great idea and had so many neat craft and art supplies in them. Many of our children are here for extended periods of time and it is wonderful to have items here like this for them during their stay. It is also great for parents to be able to grab a bag and take it to their child at the hospital.
Thank you again for this generous donation and for sharing something so special with our children.
Gratefully,
Rebecca Kinard
Assistant House Manager
