Håkan Carheden – mixed media, acrylic

Posted on October 10th, 2010 in Acrylics, Member Websites, Mixed Media

Håkan has always created art in different styles because he likes to explore new expressions. Growing up in Sweden has certainly influenced his style of art. Much of visual art in Scandinavia demonstrate simplicity. Håkan prefers uncomplicated art.

His website has three different galleries. The ANIMAL GALLERY is influenced by decades as a designer and art director. The RAINBOW GALLERY shows various experimental expressions. The WHITE GALLRY demonstrates where Håkan’s heart is. The art focuses on how light, shadows and different textures interact, most of the time with minimal colors. Found objects are often part of the creation. Most artwork is touchable with visually impaired people in mind.

While attending the Academy of Art University in San Francisco Ian decided to take his love for video games and make it a career. After graduating with a Bachelors in Fine Arts for Computer Animation he found work at a local game development studio. Now with six (6) years working professionally as an Artist within the Video Game Industry and five (5) shipped titles, ranging from hand held to console to PC, he has worked with four (4) different studios. This experience has resulted in an advanced working knowledge of building a game from first concept, to final bug testing. Ian works on building team moral and communication through positive feedback. Along with creating worlds for players to explore as an Environment Artist, he loves to learn new software. Translating what he has learned, Ian then writes easy to follow, illustrated tutorials for his peers. Being advanced in using Maya and Photoshop he enjoys exchanging tricks of the trade with he’s peers. Ian is currently living in Denver, Colorado seeking employment at a small to medium sized company.
