Hanging Policy in effect at PAG Venues

Posted on December 1st, 2011 in Art Shows, News Notes, Venues

PAG members will have new opportunities to display their work at the Wildlife Experience and PACE Center in 2012. These venues have strict hanging requirements for hanging 2D art and photos, namely that all pieces use strap hangers instead of eye hooks, sawtooth hangers, nails with wire, etc. Substandard hanging hardware has caused problems for some of our members for quite some time, so the Board decided in November to enact new hanging regulations.

All artists are now required to use strap hangers, mounted with screws, to every piece of wall art and photos on display at PAG venues. Please remember this before you bring pieces to display, or the venue coordinator will not accept your art. Wire may be strung between the strap hangers if needed, but the wire must be tight. It all depends on the type of hanging system is present at your venue. Check with your venue coordinator if you’re unsure. Strap hangers should be mounted with screws on the back of the frame, right and left sides, about 2 inches from the top of each piece.

There have been damaged pieces in the past that had substandard hooks, so our goal is to teach our members the proper way to display their work, while making the art as secure as possible. Thank you for your assistance.
