Blue Sun Productions is proud to be hosting Parker’s Wine Walks each third Friday of the month for September (19th) and October (17th), from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The cost is $10.00/ticket.  A portion of the proceeds will go to future events offered to Parker artists.  Come and enjoy a bit of socializing and meeting artists as well as Parker downtown business owners. Some of our favorite artists will be painting and selling along the street for your enjoyment.

Purchase a ticket on the corner of Mainstreeet and Victorian Drive and you’ll be on your way through the wine walk.  Gather a business card from each place and you’ll be put into a drawing for marvelous prizes including a fine piece of jewelry from Parker’s Pinetree Jewelers.

While you meet business owners from Mainstreet Floral, Me Me Salon, Parker Professional Offices, 3rd Floor Gallery, United Country, Pinetree Jewelers and more, you final destination is the ever popular Warhorse Restaurant where you’ll be treated to wine sampling on the back deck.

Old Town Parker, the Van Landschoot family (Parker Station Professional Offices) and Jim Anest (Victorian Peaks) together donated a total of $3,000 in prize money for ATP this year. The goal was to give local artists an incentive to join in Art in the Park and present their best art.  Our sponsors feel that Parker will become a destination where people will come to view great art.

Members are invited to submit entries into the September/October Mainstreet Gallery Show.

New Rules:  Do not mail or e-mail entry forms.  Bring the completed form with you when you deliver your art work.  Please attach a card with the following information to the front and also the back of each piece:  Title; Price; Medium; Name and phone number.  Please read the attached Gallery Guidelines and note the changes - Click here on guidelines and entry form.

Eligibility:

All Parker Artists Guild members working in two and three dimensional media are invited to enter.  All work must be original.  The gallery committee reserves the right to reject artwork not deemed suitable for a family oriented facility.

Framing:  All two dimensional works must be wired and ready for hanging; no saw tooth hangers please.  

Number of Entries and Size:  Due to limited space, you may submit up to four paintings with a maximum combined total width of no more than 48”.  Oversized pieces may be hung at the discretion of the committee.

You may submit up to 3 bin pieces.  Please attach a card with the title, medium, price and your name and phone number to the back of each bin piece.

Postcards for shows are available three weeks prior to the reception at the Mainstreet Center on the table by the west entry doors.  Please take at least 25 cards and mail or give out whether or not you plan to enter the show. 

Please Note:  Ribbons will be awarded in each of the eight categories listed on the entry form with the following exception:  if fewer than three different artists submit works for a category no ribbons will be given in that category.

PAG had an exhibit a couple of years ago with the ‘Red’ theme and it was very successful. 

We’re going to do it again by special request!  So, get your red paint out, your red toned photos, and the red glazes because this is going to be fun!    The quality of our shows has been great and we hope you will create your masterpiece to meet these standards.

The Golden Triangle Museum District is seeking artists to participate in our 2nd annual Denver Plein Air Arts Festival. Artists are invited to paint on location in the Golden Triangle on one or more days from September 6 to 15.

 Artists may submit one or more pieces up to 30” x 40” on canvas/board/panel or watercolor paper for official festival stamping between September 6 to 15. Stamping locations include Acoma Plaza, Byers-Evans House Museum, Native American Trading Company, Gallery 1261, Patron’s Art and Framing and more.

Participating in the event from September 6 to 15 is free and open to all artists and all media. Artists may paint at any location within the boundaries of the Golden Triangle (between Speer, Colfax and Lincoln). The following venues have given permission to artists to paint on their grounds: Denver Art Museum’s Acoma Plaza and Martin Plaza, Colorado History Museum’s Plaza, Byers-Evans House Museum and more.

 Artists have the option of entering one or more pieces (no limit) completed during the event into the juried competition ($10 per entry). Cash and prizes will be awarded. Accepted works will be exhibited at The Denver Public Library, 7th floor from Nov 14 to Dec 31, 2008. An opening reception will be held on Friday, Nov 14 from 5 to 8 pm.

To all PAG members;

Recently, two of our members have started a company called Blue Sun Productions.  This company is owned and operated by Jackie Campbell and Andy Barnett.  Both Andy and Jackie, who were current board members, have resigned their positions so there will be no conflict of interest, or even the appearance of one.

Blue Sun Productions’ purpose is to promote and produce art related events and it hopes to include in, and benefit PAG members through its activities, but any proceeds from those events will go to Blue Sun Productions not PAG. Blue Sun Productions, here after referred to as BSP, has requested to start their business by taking over some of PAG events.  The two events are the Parker Wine Walks and the Parker Station 3^rd Floor Gallery. The board voted to release the Parker Wine Walks and the 3^rd Floor Gallery as official PAG events.  This was decided at the board meeting on August 13^th after much discussion.  

We, as your board, feel it is important to communicate with all of our members that although BSP will be advertising its events on the PAG website, it is not associated with, nor sponsored in any way by PAG, its board or its membership.  Many other businesses also advertise their events on our website and it is only right we extend this privilege to BSP.

Since expressing myself as a child artistically I have not been able to stop doing art. From drawings, painting, and sculpture I have found so many different mediums since starting with the basic pencil. Creativity has become a component of my life, and is an aquifer that I draw from to reinvigorate my existence.

Art may mean something different to every individual, but it is a force that has existed for thousands of years in human culture. No one is immune to the beauty, grandeur, or awe of some form of artistic expression. I feel alive when I’m able to express myself artistically whenever I can.

My first and most important inspirations were my mother’s doodles she’d made in class, along with her paintings which were completely enthralling to me from the very first time I saw them. I can still see the images she created in my mind’s eye…cats, women’s faces, and vases, just to name a few… One thing I really try to capture when creating my own artwork is the idea that I must never lose sight of the innocence I held as a child.

I love to use many mediums, but recent experimentation with fun and different jewelry designs have captured my interest at present.  LittleGothGirls and 2B4EverYoung are both creations from the same thread. However, one is from the dark side, and the other is from the light side. Please enjoy your journey!

Come join the fun on Thursday mornings and paint with your fellow artists.  We gather about 9:00 a.m. and paint till about noon.  All PAG members, of any level, are encouraged to join our group.
