Covered Colorado Call for Artists - Deadline to enter: July 10

Covered Colorado, an organization supporting survivors of human trafficking, is looking to pair local artists with clients to create artwork that reflects each client's story of survival. The finished pieces will be auctioned at their gala next year, with proceeds supporting their work.

What's involved:

  • Artist is paired with a Covered Colorado client/survivor.

  • Artist creates a piece that honors and reflects that person's story.

  • If the client is comfortable, they may speak directly with the artist up to 3 times to discuss the piece and any modifications. Otherwise, communication happens through a liaison at Covered Colorado.

  • Covered Colorado retains ownership of the final piece.

  • Each participating artist receives a $500 stipend.

  • Completion deadline for artwork: February 14, 2027.

Four to five artists may ultimately be selected for this opportunity. Artists moving forward will sign a contract outlining all project details and expectations.

Please note: this is sensitive, trauma-informed work. Artists will be creating from someone else's lived experience of survival, and the process calls for care, patience, and emotional steadiness — this isn't a typical commission. We want anyone considering this to go in with eyes open and feel genuinely called to it. Covered Colorado will thoughtfully match artists with clients.

TO EXPRESS INTEREST:

Send FOUR samples of your artwork (and a SHORT bio) by JULY 10, 2026, to Dhruvi Mehta Shah at hello@artalchemystudio.com

Plein Air Painting at Pollywog Station Lavender Farm - July 25, from 9:00 - 1:00

8717 Hilltop Rd, Parker, CO 80134

The second Plein Air Painting day at Pollywog Station Lavender Farm will be July 25 from 9-1. Please RSVP to sbesundstrom@comcast.net before July 17.

This will be an informal painting day, and Diane at the farm will announce our being there on her social media pages. We had a lot of visitors on June 27. Be prepared to share your work and answer questions. Bring your painting set up, water, sunscreen, snacks or lunch, and shade if you want it. There are lots of large cottonwood trees on the property that provide shaded areas to paint as well.

Our first Plein air day was fun and well received and the artists who were there enjoyed it a lot!

Please send me your email address so I can send you more information and updates. Thanks. This should be a fun outing! And thank you to Diane at the farm for having us!!

RSVP: sbesundstrom@comcast.net
